About the Machine
The Formech Thermoformer is a machine that allows the user to form molds of various shapes and objects. The machine uses quartz heaters to heat up the material and mold the object, and a vacuum system to release the mold from the sheet once the mold is complete. At the IDEA Lab, the Formech is used for many workshops such as our soap making workshops and creating masks. This machine can be used by students, faculty, and staff with the respective badge.
We have one Formech Thermoforming machine at the SHU IDEA Lab.
Specifications
The Formech has a forming area of 19″ x 17″ and a sheet size of 20″ x 18″. The maximum material thickness that the machine can mold is 0.25″.
